Nursing Scholarship Opportunities

    At Cumberland University there are scholarship opportunities available specifically for students in the nursing program. Cumberland has partnered with local hospitals to offer tuition assistance, as well as external and internal scholarship opportunities listed below.
     



    Nursing Partnerships

    • Vanderbilt Medical Center (VUMC) Scholarship Program

    UMC Nurse Scholarship Program is a scholarship program for eligible nursing students. This program is designed as a pathway for qualified students to become Vanderbilt Health nurses. Nursing students may be eligible if they are enrolled in an accredited nursing program that participates in the Nursing Scholars Program with Vanderbilt Health.

    • Highpoint Health Sumner

      Highpoint Health Sumner is a scholarship program for eligible nursing students. This program allows nursing students to make an hourly wage, gain hands-on experience, and receive scholarships up to $5,000.00 a semester for up to four years. Upon graduation, the student is prepared to work for a minimum of two years as an RN at Highpoint Health Sumner.

    Grants and Scholarships

    • Lettie Pate Whitehead Foundation

      The Lettie Pate Whitehead Foundation scholarship provides support to deserving Southern, Christian, female students with financial need enrolled in either Upper Division Nursing or Education Majors at Cumberland University. Lettie Pate Whitehead scholarships are included in the recipients' total financial aid package, and the award follows the recipients through their course of study. Christian, female students from Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia are eligible to apply.  Please note that incomplete or false applications will not be considered. 


      The Lettie Pate Whitehead Foundation's grantmaking is inspired by the life of Lettie Pate Whitehead Evans, a philanthropist and businesswoman. Mrs. Whitehead had a keen sense of duty to those in need, as well as a gracious spirit.

    • Endowed Scholarships

      There are numerous endowed scholarships available that are designated specifically for nursing students as well as endowed scholarships with broad criteria that nursing students qualify for as well.     The following scholarship opportunities are need-based. If you are interested in potentially receiving funding from one of them, please fill out the form located HERE.

    • Gertrude Skelly Foundation  
    Funding from the Gertrude Skelly Foundation will be used for emergencies for undergraduate and graduate nursing students. 
     
    • Notes for Nurses Restricted Fund

      Funding for this scholarship is raised from the proceeds from the Notes for Nurses event that is held every other year to raise funds for nursing students in need. 
       

    • Rudy School of Nursing General Scholarship Fund

      This scholarship is for nursing students in need and is funded by numerous donations. 


     

    External Scholarships
