- Applying to Cumberland
The first step is applying to Cumberland University. Visit the application page by clicking the button below and selecting your desired application.

- Providing Proof of Employment
The next step is providing proof of employment. Once you have applied to the university and have been issued a student ID (A#), you will need to submit proof of employment. Acceptable proof of employment includes:
- Copy of Paystub
- Letter of Employment Verification from HR

- How long is the offer valid?
Cumberland's new tuition discount is available effective January 1, 2026, and is intended to extend indefinitely.
- What if my employment status changes?
The 50% tuition discount is only available to those who are gainfully employed by the City of Lebanon or Wilson County Government at the beginning of the term of enrollment.
- Are eligible employees able to qualify for additional CU Scholarships?
Yes - City of Lebanon and Wilson County Government employees may also be eligible for other applicable scholarships like Endowed Scholarships.
- Do I have to start in a specific semester to qualify?
No - students can take advantage of this discount in any semester, Fall, Spring, or Summer.
- Does Cumberland offer Associate Degrees?
Yes - Cumberland offers Associate Degrees, Bachelor's Degrees, and Master's Degrees. The discount is available to students pursuing any CU Degree type.
- Would eligible students have an assigned Advisor?
Yes - just like all CU students, eligible students would be assigned an Academic Advisor based upon their chosen field of study.
- Can I enroll part-time?
Yes - students are allowed to enroll part-time. However, be advised that depending on the number of hours taken, other scholarships, grants or loans may only be available at a full-time hour course load.
